The 2008 National Conference in Halifax

A Voyage of Discovery was the theme for the 2008 national teleconference, held in conjunction with the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) from April 13 to 15 in beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia .

2008 Call for Presentations

Thank you for your interest. The submission deadline has now passed. This information is provided for reference only. Please consider submitting a proposal for the 2009 conference. The Call for Proposals will take place in the fall of 2008.

The Health Care Public Relations Association (HCPRA) is the only association devoted to the specific needs of health care communicators in Canada. HCPRA members come from health care facilities and organizations in every province. Each year, HCPRA hosts an annual conference in conjunction with the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP). Together, the two associations offer an exceptional education and networking opportunity for health care public relations and fundraising professionals, consultants and suppliers to exchange information and gain knowledge and new ideas on all aspects of the profession. The 2008 conference is expected to attract up to 400 delegates.

 

You are invited to be an important part of the 2008 AHP/HCPRA Conference by submitting a proposal to present a 75 minute workshop, seminar or panel presentation. The Conference Committee is eager to assemble an exceptional program of knowledge, innovation, best practice and interaction. Innovative teaching formats are encouraged, including panel presentations, research reviews, case studies, role-playing, etc.

 

The HCPRA develops one of five tracks at the conference and its selection committee will review all presentation submissions and select the optimal mix of topics and formats. If you would like to recommend a speaker or topic, please do not hesitate to contact the National Office by email (info@hcpra.org) or by phone at 613-729-2102.  Please feel free to forward this Call for Presentations to anyone you think may be interested. 

  

Evaluation Criteria

The Selection Committee will review all applications.

 

Evaluation Criteria include:

·  Clear session purpose, description and intended results

·  Draws on industry best practices

·  Relevance to current trends, issues and practices in the industry

·  Clarity and currency of content

 

The selection focus will be to design a cohesive program of relevant topics, knowledgeable experienced presenters, varied formats and incisive ideas.

 

An individual or organization can submit more than one proposal: however, each proposal must be complete to be eligible for consideration.

 

Commercial promotion during presentations is strictly prohibited.

 

Audience

The audience is comprised of newcomers to the P.R. field as well as experienced professionals.

The audience includes:

·  P.R. professionals

·  Fundraising professionals 

·  Administrators

·  Executives interested in health care communications

·  Marketing professionals

·  Board Members & Volunteers

 

Presentation Formats

These sessions allow individuals to gain information on current issues, increase their depth of understanding in important areas of their work or develop insight into management trends. Presenters are encouraged to use audiovisual equipment and to include interactive exercises in their presentation. Presenters are required to provide a comprehensive handout.

 

How to Submit a Presentation Proposal

A completed submission form is required for each presentation proposal. Proposals must include a biographical statement outlining the credentials, including previous speaking experience, for all the presenters.

Please note that  HCPRA cannot cover travel, conference registration cost or personal expenses associated with presenting a session at the conference.

 

There is no fee to submit a proposal.

The 2007 AHP/HCPRA Conference took place from May 13 to 15, 2007 at Deerhurst Resort in Muskoka, Ontario. Entitled Enhancing Health Care: From the Lakefront to the Forefront, the conference delivered three days of education, networking and fresh air - clearing minds and refreshing our professional energy.
